The E22 or E9240 error means your Bosch dishwasher cannot drain properly due to a blocked filter, a clogged or loose drain pump, a kinked drain hose, or a blocked air gap. This is one of the most common and easiest Bosch dishwasher errors to fix yourself by cleaning the filter and checking the drain system.
Common causes
- Dishwasher filter is blocked with food particles and needs cleaning
- Drain pump is clogged with debris or the pump cover is not fully clicked into place
- Drain hose is kinked or sharply bent
- Air gap or drain hose connection is clogged with debris
How to fix it

Remove and wash the filter under running water with mild soap and a soft brush then reinstall

Remove the drain pump cover, remove standing water and debris, replace the cover and make sure it clicks fully into place

Check the drain hose for kinks and straighten if found

Turn off the appliance, check and clear the air gap, disconnect the drain hose into a bucket, clear any debris, reconnect, then run a rinse cycle to test

If the error returns after all the above reset the dishwasher by disconnecting power for 30 seconds
