LG Range (Electric) F9 error code

Difficulty: Hard · Cost: $80–$250 · Duration: 5m

The F9 error means your LG range detected that the upper oven is not reaching or maintaining the correct temperature during operation. This is similar to the F6 error but represents a different heating fault condition in the upper oven. It can be caused by a faulty heating element, a damaged bake or broil element, or a control board issue. A reset clears it in some cases but if F9 keeps returning the heating components will need to be inspected and replaced by a technician.

Common causes

  • Upper oven heating element has malfunctioned or is not generating enough heat
  • Bake or broil element is partially damaged reducing heating performance
  • Control board fault affecting the upper oven temperature regulation
  • Temporary electronic glitch causing a false heating error

How to fix it

  1. 1

Press the CLEAR/OFF key to clear the error and try the original function again

  2. 2

If F9 reappears turn off the circuit breaker for the range and wait 30 seconds

  3. 3

Turn the circuit breaker back on and check if the error has cleared

  4. 4

If F9 persists after resetting the upper oven heating element needs inspection and replacement by a qualified technician
