LG Range (Gas) F4 error code

Difficulty: Hard · Cost: $80–$200 · Duration: 5m

The F4 error means your LG range detected a problem with the lower oven thermistor — the temperature sensor that monitors heat levels inside the lower oven cavity during cooking. Without an accurate temperature reading the lower oven cannot regulate heat safely and stops the function. A reset clears it in some cases but if F4 keeps returning the thermistor will need to be inspected and replaced by a technician.

Common causes

  • Lower oven thermistor has malfunctioned or failed
  • Wiring connection to the lower oven thermistor is loose or damaged
  • Temporary electronic glitch causing a false thermistor reading

How to fix it

  1. 1

Press the CLEAR/OFF key to clear the error and try the original function again

  2. 2

If F4 reappears turn off the circuit breaker for the range and wait 30 seconds

  3. 3

Turn the circuit breaker back on and check if the error has cleared

  4. 4

If F4 persists after resetting the lower oven thermistor needs inspection and replacement by a qualified technician
