LG Range (Gas) H5 error code

H5 is not an error code. It is a safety indicator that appears on certain LG range models when the cooktop surface temperature exceeds 150°F. This is the same indicator as HS but displayed differently depending on the model. It appears completely normally after cooking and will turn off automatically once the surface cools down to a safe temperature. If the surface feels cool to the touch but H5 is still showing resetting the circuit breaker will usually clear it.

Common causes

  • Cooktop surface is still hot after recent use — this is normal
  • Residual heat is still being detected by the surface temperature sensor
  • Temperature sensor malfunction showing H5 when surface is already cool

How to fix it

    Wait for the cooktop surface to cool down — H5 will turn off automatically once the temperature drops below 150°F

    Do not touch the surface while H5 is displayed

    If the surface is at room temperature but H5 is still showing turn off the circuit breaker for the range and wait 30 seconds

    Turn the circuit breaker back on and check if H5 has cleared
