LG Refrigerator (Side-by-Side) CH E error code

Difficulty: Hard · Cost: $200–$500 · Duration: Requires professional service

The CH E error means your LG refrigerator has detected a refrigerant leak on the high pressure side of the cooling circuit. This code may also appear as E CH on some models. The high side of the system includes the condenser coil and the most likely source of the leak is the condenser itself. This is the opposite of the CL E error which covers the low side. Like all refrigerant leak errors this is serious — running the compressor without sufficient refrigerant can cause permanent damage. There are no user steps to resolve this error and the unit must be repaired by a licensed technician.

Common causes

  • Refrigerant leak from the condenser coil
  • Crack or corrosion in the high side refrigerant piping
  • Loose or damaged connection on the high pressure side of the cooling circuit
