Samsung Dishwasher OC / OE error code

Difficulty: Medium · Cost: $0–$150 · Duration: 10–20m

The OC or OE error means your Samsung dishwasher detected that the water level inside the tub has exceeded the normal operating limit. This is a safety shutdown to prevent overflow and flooding. The most common cause is a faulty water inlet valve allowing too much water in, or excessive suds from incorrect detergent use.

Common causes

  • Water inlet valve is not closing properly allowing continuous water flow
  • Excessive suds from using dish soap or too much detergent raised the water level
  • Water level sensor has malfunctioned

How to fix it

  1. 1

Turn off the dishwasher and check for excessive suds inside the tub

  2. 2

If suds are visible make sure you are using dishwasher-specific detergent — not dish soap or hand washing liquid

  3. 3

Run a short cycle with no detergent to flush out the suds

  4. 4

If no suds are present the water inlet valve likely needs replacing — arrange professional service
