Samsung Washing Machine nd / 5E / SE / 5C / SC / 15C error code
These codes mean your Samsung washing machine detected a drainage problem — water is not leaving the drum at the expected speed or the machine cannot drain at all. This is one of the most common washing machine errors and is almost always caused by a blocked drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or an incorrectly installed drain hose. Cleaning the filter and checking the hose installation resolves most cases.
Common causes
- Drain pump filter is clogged with lint, coins, or debris
- Drain hose is kinked, bent, or blocked
- Drain hose is inserted too far into the drain pipe causing a siphon
- Drain hose is too high preventing gravity drainage
- Drain pump has malfunctioned
How to fix it
-
1
Clean the drain pump filter — usually located behind the access panel at the front bottom of the machine
-
2
Prepare a towel and shallow container to catch water before opening the filter
-
3
Check the drain hose for kinks and make sure it is inserted between 6 and 8 inches into the drain pipe
-
4
Make sure the drain hose is not inserted too far or too shallow into the standpipe
-
5
Unplug the washer for 2–3 minutes then restore power and try the cycle again
