The Cover is Open message on your Brother inkjet printer means either the scanner cover or the ink cartridge cover is not fully closed and locked. Lift the scanner cover and close it again firmly. If the ink cartridge cover was recently opened close it firmly until it clicks into place. Also make sure any interface cable is routed correctly through the cable channel so it is not preventing the cover from closing.

How to fix it

    Lift the scanner cover all the way up and then lower it firmly until it latches closed

    Check that any interface cable is guided correctly through the cable channel at the back of the machine so it is not caught under the cover
