The Cover is Open message on your Brother laser printer means one of the machine's covers is not completely closed. Open and firmly close the front cover. If the front cover is closed check the fuser cover inside the back cover — this can trigger if paper jammed at the back during power-on. Also check the ADF cover if your model has one. Press Stop/Exit if the message remains after closing all covers.
