LG Air Conditioner CH04 error code
Difficulty: Easy
·
Cost: $0–$80
·
Duration: 10–15m
The CH04 error means your LG air conditioner has detected a drainage problem — water that forms naturally during cooling is not being removed from the unit. On ceiling type units this usually points to a blocked drain or a pump malfunction. On window and portable models it simply means the condensate tank is full and needs to be emptied. The code may also appear as FL depending on the model. On rainy or very humid days this error can appear more frequently because the unit produces more condensate than usual.
Common causes
- Condensate drain is blocked or clogged on ceiling type units
- Drain pump malfunction inside the indoor unit
- Condensate tank is full on window or portable type units
- High humidity causing excessive condensate buildup faster than normal evaporation
- Drain hose is kinked or not positioned correctly
How to fix it
-
1
For ceiling type units: unplug the power cord or turn off the circuit breaker and wait 5 minutes then restore power
-
2
If the error returns on a ceiling type unit after resetting contact a technician to inspect the drain and pump
-
3
For window or portable type units: power off the appliance and unplug it
-
4
Prepare a bowl or pan of at least 1.5 litres to catch the water
-
5
Locate the drain port on the lower rear of the unit and remove the drain cap
-
6
Allow all the condensate to drain fully into the pan
-
