LG Dishwasher IE error code

The IE error means your LG dishwasher tried to fill with water but could not reach the required level within 10 minutes. This is almost always caused by a water supply issue rather than a fault with the dishwasher itself. Common causes include a closed water valve, low water pressure, a kinked hose, or an incorrectly installed drain hose that siphons water back out as fast as it fills. In cold climates parts of the water line can also freeze. Most of these are easy to check and fix yourself.

Common causes

  • Water supply valve is turned off or not fully open
  • Water supply hose is kinked, bent, or blocked
  • Household water pressure is too low — minimum required is 20 PSI
  • Drain hose is installed too low causing water to siphon back out during filling
  • Flood Safe hose or check valve interrupting the water supply
  • Water line or inlet valve has frozen due to cold weather
  • Dishwasher is not level causing incorrect water level readings

How to fix it

    Check that the water supply valve behind or under the dishwasher is fully open

  2. 2

    Inspect the water supply hose for any kinks or bends and straighten them out

  3. 3

    Make sure household water pressure is between 20 and 120 PSI — if too low contact a plumber

  4. 4

    Check the drain hose height — the end must be at least 10 to 12 inches above the base of the dishwasher to prevent siphoning

  5. 5

    If the drain hose is installed too low reinstall it at the correct height following the owner's manual instructions

    If a Flood Safe hose or check valve is installed on the water line remove it and replace with a standard inlet hose

  7. 7

    If the weather is cold and the water line may have frozen wrap a warm damp towel around the frozen area until it thaws

    Check the dishwasher is level and adjust the feet if needed

    If IE persists after all of the above the unit will require a professional repair
