LG Dryer dE error code

The dE error means your LG dryer detected that the door is not fully closed before or during a cycle. The dryer will not start or will stop mid-cycle until the door is properly shut and latched. This is commonly caused by clothing caught in the door, the lint filter not being pushed in all the way, or a door that has become misaligned. A simple reset resolves it in most cases. If the door is visibly bent or damaged from new contact the dealer for a replacement.

Common causes

  • Door was not pushed shut firmly enough before starting the cycle
  • Lint filter is not pushed all the way in preventing the door from closing fully
  • A piece of clothing is caught in the door or drum opening
  • Door is misaligned due to a bump or impact
  • Door latch or hinge is worn or damaged

How to fix it

    Open the door and check that the lint filter is pushed all the way into its slot

    Check around the door opening for any clothing or items caught between the door and the drum

    Close the door firmly and make sure it clicks shut

    If the door still will not close properly unplug the dryer or trip the circuit breaker

    Wait 5 seconds then plug it back in

    Close the door firmly, select any cycle and press Start

    If the unit is brand new and the door frame or door itself appears bent or damaged contact the dealer

    If dE keeps appearing after resetting the door latch or hinge needs inspection by a technician
