LG Dryer E05 error code

Difficulty: Easy · Cost: $0–$80 · Duration: 10–15m

The E05 error means your LG dryer detected a problem with the water supply used for steam cycles. The dryer requires a connected water supply to generate steam — if that supply is interrupted, blocked, or insufficient the E05 code appears. This only affects models with a direct water connection for steam. Common causes include a closed or frozen water tap, a kinked inlet hose, or a clogged inlet filter. Most of these are easy to check and fix yourself.

Common causes

  • Water tap is closed, frozen, or not fully open
  • Inlet hose is kinked, bent, or blocked preventing water flow
  • Inlet filter screen is clogged with sediment or residue
  • Water inlet valve has malfunctioned or failed

How to fix it

  1. 1

Check the water tap connected to the dryer and make sure it is fully open

  2. 2

If the tap appears frozen wrap a warm damp towel around it to thaw

  3. 3

Inspect the inlet hose for any kinks or bends and straighten them out

  4. 4

Turn off the water tap and disconnect the inlet hose

  5. 5

Remove the inlet filter screen and rinse it clean under running water to remove any sediment or residue

  6. 6

Reconnect the hose securely and turn the tap back on

  7. 7

Restart the dryer and attempt the steam cycle again

  8. 8

If E05 appears again after all the above the water inlet valve needs inspection by a technician
