LG Dryer PS error code
The PS error means your LG dryer detected an improper voltage at the power connection. This is most commonly caused by the white and red wires being swapped at the dryer's terminal block during installation. It can also be caused by a circuit breaker issue or an incorrectly grounded outlet. This error appears most often on newly installed dryers or after a power cord has been replaced. Checking the power cord wiring at the back of the dryer and resetting the circuit breaker resolves it in most cases. If wiring is involved and you are not comfortable working with electrical connections contact a licensed electrician.
Common causes
- White and red wire connections are reversed on the dryer's terminal block
- Power cord was incorrectly installed during setup — 3-wire or 4-wire wiring error
- Circuit breaker tripped or experienced a power surge
- Dryer is not plugged into a properly grounded 240V outlet
How to fix it
-
1
Turn off the dryer's circuit breaker at the home's main panel before touching any wiring
-
2
Check the power cord connection at the back of the dryer — verify the white and red wires are connected to the correct terminal blocks and have not been swapped
-
3
For a 4-wire cord: black and red wires connect to the outer terminals, white neutral wire connects to the center terminal with the white ground wire, green ground screw goes to the green mount
-
4
For a 3-wire cord: black and red wires connect to the outer terminals, white wire connects to the center terminal — leave the green ground screw and wire in place
-
5
Make sure all wires are tightly screwed with no gaps or slack then replace the access cover
-
6
Reset the circuit breaker — turn it OFF for at least 10 seconds then turn it back ON
-
7
Make sure the power cord is plugged into a grounded 240V outlet matching the dryer's rating plate
-
8
If PS persists after checking the wiring and resetting the breaker the unit requires a professional repair
