HP Printer (DeskJet) E0 error code
Difficulty: Easy
·
Cost: $0–$30
·
Duration: 10–15m
The E0 error means your HP DeskJet printer detected that one or both ink cartridges are unusable. Reseating both cartridges, cleaning the ink cartridge contacts, and restarting the printer resolves this in most cases. If the error persists after cleaning the contacts the affected cartridge will need to be replaced.
Common causes
- One or both cartridges are not seated correctly in their slots
- The copper-coloured contacts on a cartridge are dirty or have a poor connection
- A cartridge has failed and is no longer usable
How to fix it
-
1
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving
-
2
Press down on each cartridge to release it and remove both cartridges
-
3
Check that no protective tape remains on the contacts or nozzles
-
4
Reinsert both cartridges firmly into their colour-coded slots until they click
-
5
If the error persists clean the copper-coloured contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water
-
6
Also clean the matching contacts inside the carriage
-
7
Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry then reinsert the cartridges
-
8
Restart the printer and check if E0 has cleared
-
9
If E0 returns replace the affected cartridge with a new genuine HP cartridge
