The E1 error means your HP DeskJet printer detected that the paper size selected in the print settings does not match the width of the paper loaded in the input tray. This is one of the most common and easiest DeskJet errors to fix. Either load the correct paper size or change the paper size setting in your print job to match what is loaded.

Common causes

The print job is set to a paper size different from what is loaded in the tray
The wrong paper size was loaded after a previous print job
Paper width guide is not adjusted to the edge of the paper

How to fix it

Press the Cancel button to cancel the current print job

Remove all paper from the input tray

Slide the paper width guide to the far left

Load a stack of the correct paper size and slide the guide to rest against the edge of the paper

Alternatively change the paper size setting in your application to match the paper already loaded

Print the document again
