LG Air Conditioner CH237 error code
Difficulty: Easy
·
Cost: $0
·
Duration: 2–5m
The CH237 and CH238 errors appear on LG air conditioner models manufactured after 2021 that use a separate power cord for the outdoor unit. Unlike older models where the indoor unit powers both units, these newer models require the indoor and outdoor units to each be independently connected to power. If the outdoor unit is unplugged or its circuit breaker is off the indoor unit cannot communicate with it and displays this error. The fix is usually as simple as plugging the outdoor unit back in or switching its breaker back on.
Common causes
- Outdoor unit power cord is unplugged or not connected to a wall outlet
- Circuit breaker for the outdoor unit has tripped or been switched off
- Power strip being used instead of a direct wall outlet causing insufficient power
- Outdoor unit power cord is damaged or not fully inserted into the outlet
How to fix it
-
1
Check that the outdoor unit power cord is plugged directly into a wall outlet — not a power strip
-
2
If it is unplugged plug it securely into a wall outlet
-
3
Check the circuit breaker for the air conditioner and switch it back on if it has tripped
-
4
Do not attempt to reset the breaker repeatedly if it will not stay on — contact a technician in that case
-
5
Avoid using a power strip with any air conditioner unit as it may not provide enough capacity
