LG Air Conditioner P2 error code

Difficulty: Easy · Cost: $0 · Duration: 5–10m

The P2 error means your LG air conditioner's drain pan has collected more water than it can hold. Under normal conditions the built-in slinger fan picks up water from the pan and disperses it across the condenser coil where it evaporates. On very humid days or in high-humidity rooms more water accumulates than the fan can disperse, causing the pan to fill up and trigger this code. The code may also appear as FL on some models. Draining the unit manually clears it in most cases.

Common causes

  • Very high room or outdoor humidity causing excessive condensate production
  • Unit running in DRY mode which removes more moisture from the air
  • Doors and windows left open allowing humid air to continuously enter the room
  • Drain port cap is on and condensate has nowhere to drain

How to fix it

  1. 1

Remove the drain port cap located at the lower rear of the unit

  2. 2

Tilt the unit gently backward so the water drains out through the drain outlet into a pan or bowl

  3. 3

Replace the drain cap securely once draining is complete

  4. 4

If the unit is in DRY mode switch it to COOL mode to reduce moisture removal

  5. 5

Turn the fan speed to LOW to slow air circulation and reduce condensate production

  6. 6

Make sure all doors and windows are closed to limit incoming humid air

  7. 7

Unplug and reset the unit if the code persists after draining — if it still shows contact a technician
