LG Dishwasher OE error code

The OE error means your LG dishwasher is not draining properly. This is one of the most common dishwasher errors and is almost always caused by a clogged filter, a kinked drain hose, or a blocked air gap. New installations can also trigger OE if the garbage disposal knockout plug was not removed before connecting the drain hose. Most causes are easy to check and fix yourself without a technician.

  • Dishwasher filter is clogged with food debris
  • Drain hose is kinked, pinched, or blocked under the sink
  • Air gap or garbage disposal connection is blocked with debris
  • New garbage disposal was installed without removing the knockout plug for the dishwasher drain
  • Drain pump is faulty or obstructed

How to fix it

    Remove and clean the dishwasher filter — take out any food debris and rinse it thoroughly

    Run an empty HEAVY DUTY or NORMAL cycle with no dishes or detergent to flush and test the drain

  3. 3

    Check under the sink for the drain hose — look for kinks, pinching, or anything pressing against it and straighten it out

    Check the air gap on the sink countertop for debris and clean it out if blocked

    If a new garbage disposal was recently installed check that the knockout plug inside the disposal inlet was removed

    To force a drain only cycle press and hold DELICATE and DUAL CONTROL at the same time — the exact buttons vary by model

    Alternatively start any cycle, let it run for 45 seconds then power the unit off — the first 45 seconds of any cycle is drain only

    If OE clears clean the filter and spray arms thoroughly and run an empty cycle with a cup of vinegar or dishwasher cleaner
