LG Dishwasher tE error code

Difficulty: Hard · Cost: $80–$250 · Duration: 5m

The tE error means your LG dishwasher detected a thermal error — either the water temperature inside the unit exceeded the safe maximum of 194°F, or the thermistor that monitors water temperature has developed a fault and is giving incorrect readings. The dishwasher stops the cycle as a protective measure. A power reset is worth trying first. If tE keeps returning the thermistor or heating components will need to be inspected and replaced by a technician.

Common causes

  • Water temperature exceeded the safe maximum of 194°F
  • Thermistor has malfunctioned and is giving incorrect temperature readings
  • Heating element fault causing the water to overheat
  • Temporary electronic glitch triggering a false thermal error

How to fix it

  1. 1

Press the POWER button to turn the dishwasher off

  2. 2

Turn off the circuit breaker supplying the dishwasher and wait 10 seconds

  3. 3

Switch the circuit breaker back on

  4. 4

Press the POWER button to turn the dishwasher back on and start a new cycle

  5. 5

If tE returns after the reset the thermistor or heating element needs inspection and replacement by a technician
