LG Washing Machine (Front Load) dE1 error code

The dE1 error means your LG front load washing machine detected that the door is not fully closed before or during a cycle. On some models this code may appear as del or dEL on the display — they all mean the same thing. The most common cause is a piece of laundry caught in the door seal preventing it from closing all the way. A reset after properly closing the door almost always clears this error. If it keeps returning the door latch may need replacing.

Common causes

  • Laundry or a small garment is caught between the door and the rubber door gasket
  • Door was not pushed shut firmly enough before starting the cycle
  • Rubber door gasket is dirty, torn, or deformed preventing a proper seal
  • Door latch or lock assembly is worn or damaged

How to fix it

    Open the door and carefully check the rubber gasket all the way around for trapped clothing or objects

    Remove anything caught in the seal and close the door firmly until it clicks

    Unplug the machine from the outlet and wait 10 seconds

    Plug it back in, make sure the door is fully closed, and restart the cycle

    If dE1 keeps appearing after resetting contact a technician to inspect the door latch assembly
