LG Washing Machine (Front Load) dE2 error code

The dE2 error means your LG front load washing machine recognises the door is shut but cannot confirm it is properly locked. This is different from dE1 where the door is not fully closed — here the door appears closed but the locking mechanism is not engaging. This can happen when the drum is overfilled, something is jamming the latch area, or the door latch itself is bent or damaged. A reset clears it in many cases but a persistent dE2 usually means the lock assembly needs replacing.

Common causes

  • Too much laundry in the drum pushing against the door from inside
  • Item caught between the door edge and the rubber gasket blocking the latch
  • Door latch hook is bent, cracked, or broken
  • Door lock assembly is faulty and not engaging after the door is closed

How to fix it

    Unplug the machine from the outlet and wait 10 seconds

    Check around the door and gasket for any clothing or objects blocking the latch area and remove them

    Make sure the door is perfectly closed and the latch clicks into place
