LG Washing Machine (Front Load) dL error code

The dL error appears on LG top load washing machines when the lid lock mechanism is not functioning correctly. Unlike front load models the dL code is specific to top loaders where the lid must lock before spinning can begin. The most common cause is a piece of clothing caught under the lid preventing it from closing fully. If clearing the obstruction and resetting does not fix it the door latch or lid lock switch itself may be damaged and needs replacing.

A garment or item is caught under the lid or inside the door area
Lid lock switch has malfunctioned and is not detecting the closed lid
Door latch mechanism is physically bent or broken
Humid environment causing moisture damage to the locking mechanism

How to fix it

Check around the lid and remove any clothing or items that may be caught in the door area

Unplug the machine from the outlet and wait 10 seconds

Plug it back in and try to start the cycle again

If dL returns after resetting the lid lock switch or latch assembly will need replacing by a technician
