LG Washing Machine (Front Load) FE error code

The FE error means your LG washing machine detected that the water level inside the drum has gone higher than it should. The machine stops the cycle as a safety measure to prevent flooding. This is almost always caused by a faulty water inlet valve that is not shutting off properly and allowing water to keep flowing in. Draining the excess water first and restarting may temporarily clear it but a persistent FE error means the inlet valve needs replacing by a technician.

Common causes

  • Faulty water inlet valve not closing properly and allowing continuous water flow
  • Water pressure from the household supply is too high
  • Water level pressure sensor malfunction giving incorrect readings

How to fix it

    Turn off both the hot and cold water taps behind the machine immediately

    Power the washer on and press the spin speed button until No Spin is selected

  3. 3

    Press START/PAUSE to run a drain-only cycle and empty the excess water from the drum

  4. 4

    Once fully drained turn the water taps back on and restart the wash cycle

  5. 5

    If the FE error comes back after restarting the water inlet valve likely needs replacing — contact a technician
