LG Washing Machine (Top Load) IE error code

The IE error on your LG top load washing machine means the drum is not filling with water to the required level. This is almost always caused by a water supply issue — a closed tap, a kinked inlet hose, or frozen pipes in cold weather. If the water supply is fine and the error persists the inlet valve may be malfunctioning.

Common causes

  • Water supply tap is closed or not fully open
  • Inlet hose is kinked, pressed, or not connected
  • Inlet filter is clogged with rust, sand, or debris
  • Inlet hose or tap is frozen in cold weather

How to fix it

    Make sure the water supply taps are open — turn counterclockwise to open

    Check that the inlet hoses are securely connected to both the taps and the back of the washer

  3. 3

    Inspect the inlet hoses for kinks and straighten them — the washer can shift slightly during spin and kink the hose

  4. 4

    If frozen in winter disconnect the inlet hoses and thaw the taps with a hot cloth for 5 minutes — thaw the hoses in warm water below 50°C

    To clean the inlet filter turn off the water, disconnect the hose from the back of the washer, pull out the filter, clean with a small brush, then reconnect

    If the error persists after all checks contact a qualified technician service as the inlet valve may need replacing
