Duration: 10–20m
The OE error on your LG top load washing machine means there is a drainage problem — water is not leaving the tub correctly. This is most commonly caused by a clogged or improperly installed drain hose. The drain hose on a top load washer should be positioned no higher than 6 cm from the ground. In cold weather the drain hose may also freeze.
Common causes
- Drain hose is kinked, pressed, or positioned too high
- Drain hose is clogged with a foreign object such as a coin
- Drain hose or the inside of the washer is frozen in cold weather
- Drain hole in the standpipe is blocked
How to fix it
-
1
Check behind and underneath the washer to make sure the drain hose is not kinked or pressed by the machine
-
2
Make sure the drain hose is positioned no higher than 6 cm from the ground
-
3
To check if the drain is clogged lift the drain hose from the drain hole and run a spin cycle — if water drains freely the drain hole itself is blocked
-
4
Disconnect the drain hose from the washer and use tweezers to remove any object blocking the hose
-
5
If frozen in winter pour warm water (50–60°C) into the tub, close the door and wait 1–2 hours for the hose to thaw — then run a Spin Only cycle
