Panasonic Washing Machine H21 error code

Difficulty: Hard · Cost: $80–$200 · Duration: Requires professional service

The H21 error means your Panasonic washing machine detected that the water level inside the drum is rising abnormally, indicating a possible overflow condition. This is most commonly caused by a faulty water inlet valve that is not closing properly and allowing water to keep entering the drum. A clogged or dirty inlet valve diaphragm can also cause this. Do not use the machine until the issue is resolved as an overflowing machine can cause flooding.

Common causes

  • Water inlet valve is not closing properly allowing continuous water flow
  • Inlet valve diaphragm is dirty or clogged preventing the valve from sealing
  • Pressure sensor fault causing incorrect water level readings
  • Water inlet valve has failed completely

How to fix it

  1. 1

Turn off the water supply tap immediately

  2. 2

Unplug the machine to stop it running

  3. 3

Clean the diaphragm of the water inlet valve — remove any mineral deposits or debris from the inlet valve

  4. 4

Check that the inlet valve operates correctly after cleaning

  5. 5

If H21 returns after cleaning the valve the inlet valve needs replacing by a technician
