HP Printer (Smart Tank) E3 error code
Difficulty: Easy
·
Cost: $0
·
Duration: 5–10m
The E3 error means your HP Smart Tank printer's print carriage — the assembly that moves back and forth during printing — is jammed or stalled. Opening the front door and carefully removing any obstructions from around the carriage clears this in most cases. Do not open the printhead cover when clearing the jam.
Common causes
- A piece of jammed paper is blocking the carriage path
- A foreign object is lodged in the carriage area
- The printhead cover is not properly closed causing the carriage to stall
