HP Printer (Smart Tank) E7 error code

The E7 error means one or more ink tanks on your HP Smart Tank printer have run out of ink. Unlike cartridge-based printers the Smart Tank uses refillable ink tanks that you top up with ink bottles. Open the front door and refill the empty tank using the corresponding HP ink bottle.

How to fix it

    Open the front door of the printer

  2. 2

    Open the ink tank cap of the empty tank

  3. 3

    Open the corresponding HP ink bottle

  4. 4

    Place the ink bottle upside down on the tank opening and click it into place

  5. 5

    Wait for the ink to fill the tank completely

  6. 6

    Remove the bottle and close the bottle cap

  7. 7

    Close the ink tank cap and the front door

  8. 8

    Resume printing
