The E3 error on your LG top load washing machine means there is a problem with the drain motor. This can also be triggered by the inside of the washer freezing in cold weather causing the drain motor to be unable to operate. Try resetting the washer by unplugging and reconnecting the power cord. If the error is due to freezing thaw the washer using warm water before restarting.

How to fix it

Unplug the power cord from the washer

Reconnect the power cord and attempt to operate the washer again

If the error is due to freezing open the door and scoop out remaining water then pour warm water (50–60°C) into the tub and wait 1–2 hours for the interior to thaw

Wet a cloth with warm water and wrap it around the drain hose to thaw it

Run a Spin Only cycle to drain remaining water

If E3 persists after resetting or thawing contact a qualified technician service for a drain motor inspection
