LG Washing Machine (Top Load) FF error code
Difficulty: Medium
·
Cost: $0
·
Duration: 1–2h
The FF error on your LG top load washing machine stands for Freeze Failure. It means prolonged cold weather has caused the inlet or drain hose — or the inside of the washer — to freeze. The FF or OE errors indicate the drain hose is frozen and the IE error indicates the inlet hose or tap is frozen. Thaw the affected components using warm water before attempting to run the washer again.
Common causes
- Inlet hose or water tap has frozen due to prolonged cold weather
- Drain hose or the inside of the washer has frozen
How to fix it
-
1
Open the washer door and remove all laundry — scoop out any remaining water
-
2
Pour warm water (50–60°C) into the tub and wait 1–2 hours for the tub to thaw
-
3
Wet a cloth with warm water and wrap it around the drain hose to thaw it
-
4
For frozen inlet taps wrap a cloth soaked in hot water around the taps for 5 minutes
-
5
Thaw disconnected inlet hoses in warm water below 50°C
-
6
Once thawed run a Spin Only cycle to remove remaining water then run a Rinse + Spin cycle to test
-
7
To prevent freezing in winter drain all remaining water from the hoses when the washer is not in use
