The Er/04, Er/05, or Er/06 error means your HP LaserJet printer detected a paper jam. Find and carefully remove all jammed paper from the printer. If no jammed paper is visible reset the printer by turning it off and back on. Never pull paper forcefully — torn pieces left inside will cause the jam to recur.
Common causes
- Paper fed at an angle and became stuck in the paper path
- Multiple sheets were fed at once
- Wrinkled, torn, or damp paper was used
- The input tray was overfilled
- A small piece of torn paper remains inside the paper path
How to fix it

Open the cartridge access door and carefully look for and remove any jammed paper

Check the input tray area and the paper path for jammed or crumpled sheets

Remove any torn paper pieces from the rollers

Close all doors and turn the printer off then back on

If no jammed paper is visible reset the printer by turning it off waiting 30 seconds and turning it back on
