HP Printer (LaserJet) Er/20 error code

The Er/20 error means your HP LaserJet printer detected a problem with the toner cartridge sensor. Removing and reinstalling the toner cartridge resets the sensor connection in most cases. If the error persists after reinstalling power cycle the printer and then replace the cartridge.

The toner cartridge sensor has a poor connection or temporary fault
The toner cartridge has failed and is triggering a sensor error

How to fix it

Open the cartridge access door and remove the toner cartridge

Reinsert the toner cartridge firmly until it clicks into position

Close the access door and try to print

If Er/20 persists turn off the printer from the main power outlet wait 30 seconds and turn it back on

If the error still persists replace the toner cartridge with a new genuine HP cartridge

If the error continues after replacing the cartridge contact a qualified technician
